Sony Handycam DCR-DVD300: Test Footage

The early 2000's were a time of electronic innovation and experimentation, especially within the realm of video recording. Analog formats like VHS and Hi8 were becoming antiquated, and brands like Sony were in hot pursuit of something new. Enter the DCR-DVD300, released in 2003 with its sisters, the DCR-DVD100 and DCR-DVD200, Sony's first units to record directly to DVDs. Can these units stand up to time, and an ever-shifting market? Time told the story, the DVD units lasted for quite some time, before Sony's mass-purge of their less popular formats between 2007-2009.
