Headless Chicken PhotoShoot: The Canadian International Airshow 2024 @ The CNE

I had to look back at some of the first videos I uploaded to Youtube to realize...heck, its been about 14 years since I last went to shoot the airshow. I broke that hiatus today.

Going down to the Exhibition grounds via GO Transit for the first time as well. It was much more convenient, less expensive, and less stressful than driving and parking or taking the crowded TTC. I'll be doing this more often from here on out, and the kids loved the experience.

I planted myself on the grassy hills by one of the bridges that takes you to the outskirts of the old Ontario Place grounds. Its not the best view or the best for my aging ankles, but it was less crowded on a relatively cool day. But quite sunny, gaining a bit of a tan as proof.

I started shot almost exclusively on my Sigma 150-600mm Contemporary on my Canon R7, adapted with a Mieke drop-in VND adapter. I dropped a CPL filter since I was shooting over water.

I didn't get to see the whole show, but I nabbed shots mostly of the Snowbirds, followed by a little bit of the Redline Air Show, a flyby of the Avro Lancaster and B25 Mitchell, then an aerial performance by Trevor Rafferty and his Pitts 12. I walked away for a bit, only to capture shots of the F22 Raptor performance from the Kids Midway.
