Описание к видео Japanese Tree Peonies in Winter: Hakozaki Shrine Flower Garden

Please visit us at: http://botanyboy.org/ For centuries both Japanese and Chinese gardeners have been growing tree peonies. While there are several species of tree peony, Paeonia suffruticosa is the most commonly grown and has been bred to create a great variety of flower types. In Japan plants have been selected for cold flowering as well, the so called Kanbotan, or cold flowering peonies. These actually flower in mid winter and again in the spring. This video focuses on this group of peony at a flower garden that is part of a Shinto Shrine, Hakozaki Shrine in Fukuoka City, Kyushu, Japan. You'll get to see how they are grown and also the surrounding gardens and companion plants on a winter's day.
