What is a POS plan? | WPS Explains

Описание к видео What is a POS plan? | WPS Explains

When shopping for health insurance, you may come across different types of health plans designed to meet different needs. One type of managed care plan is called a POS plan, or Point-of-Service plan. A Point-of-Service plan is a unique combination of an HMO and a PPO. Like an HMO, POS plans usually offer lower premium and they are also usually associated with a more narrow network of providers. In addition, a POS requires approved referrals for out-of-network specialist services to be paid at the in-network benefit level. With a POS plan, you'll receive the highest level of benefits when you visit an in-network provider. Like an HMO, a POS requires an approved referral for an out-of-network specialist to be covered at the higher in-network benefit level. Just like a PPO, POS plan customers are allowed to visit out-of-network providers, but often at a higher cost, including higher coinsurance and/or higher deductible costs. WPS is here to help.
