Discovering Hidden WW2 Relics in the German Hürtgen Forest!

This time, we took a trip to Germany to explore the historic Hürtgen Forest. With our metal detectors in hand, we were eager to see if any traces of World War II remained beneath the soil. It didn’t take long before we made some incredible finds!

The Battle of Hürtgen Forest (German: Schlacht im Hürtgenwald) was a grueling series of battles between American and German forces from 19 September to 16 December 1944. The battle occurred on German soil, in a 140 km² forest located about 5 km east of the Belgian-German border. This was the longest battle fought by the U.S. Army in World War II, leaving its mark on the landscape.

We obtained permission to search on private land owned by an acquaintance, and we encourage others to follow local regulations. Digging without permits could lead to serious consequences. Additionally, all holes dug were carefully refilled, leaving nature undisturbed after our visit.
