The Horsemanship Minute -Teach a physical cue to move before a verbal cue. 😏🐎

Описание к видео The Horsemanship Minute -Teach a physical cue to move before a verbal cue. 😏🐎

A cluck, kiss, or other verbal cue intended to create movement, and used as the first cue to the movement, can sometimes create an overreaction to the verbal cue, especially with sensitive horses. 🤯

Today, Rip reacted to my cluck by jumping and panicking some when I hadn’t asked him to move with a physical cue.

To fix this, I asked him to stand still and continued to cluck until he began to relax and stand still, at which point I stopped clucking. 🐴

After 5 minutes or so, he began to consistently stand relaxed without movement while I clucked.

It’s important to teach your horse to respond to body language for movement as an initial cue. Follow up with a cluck or kiss to tell them more pressure is coming, but make sure to desensitize to this sound as well. 😊💯

Your horse will learn that only when the verbal cue follows a physical cue does it mean more pressure is coming.
