Squier vs Sire Bass Guitar comparison. Best budget bass is... you decide! Leave a comment down below. Sire V7 vintage (ash/maple) & Squier by Fender Vintage Modified 70s bass guitar. Both have black block inlays and black binding.

Great, so you’re considering getting a squier or a Sire. But which one do you go for? Well, here’s a few points about the basses, that might help you make your mind up.

Okay, so the levelling of the frets is very important and it has a major impact on the playability of your instrument.

The Squier to be honest isn’t as level and I would recommend if you are buying certainly a new one today, that you get the frets levelled afterwards.

So these basses cost $406, $407, or about £349 and you’re going to be looking at another hundred dollars to get that work done.

If you want a tone that’s very similar to a fender, for a much lower price, then this is probably going to be your go to bass, so bear that in mind.

The build quality is very good. I’ve played this bass a lot and had it for a long time so I have had to solder The electronics a few times, it has gone.

The quality of the materials is very good. This is a maple body and a maple neck, fingerboard.

The tuners are good, they are better than on the Sire in my opinion, they hold a little better.

Vintage style bridge. 4 plate Bolt on for the neck and very good looking.

This model has the 60s pickup spacing and it’s called the Squire vintage modified Jazz bass. Great Bass.

So I picked up this Sire bass for £350, $400. A very good Price for this instrument I believe.

New, there about $570 about £489 so beware it is a little bit more expensive than the squier. Once you’ve had the work done on the Squier as I suggested, It’s not a massive difference. Some of the extra features about this bass, over the squier is that you’ve got the Marcus heritage preamp.

It’s got a 3-band EQ System and this particular model has the 70s pickup placement.

Vintage-style bridge, swamp ash body, one piece maple neck, very high-quality ingredients.

The tuners maybe just let this bass down a little bit, they don’t tend to hold tune as well as the founder of Squier.

It’s got a slightly fatter neck, A U-shaped vintage correct neck.

Again, some people have problems with the battery compartment, I haven’t.

Do you have a string through option, 4 bolt on neck plate. Same is the squier we’ve got the black block inlays and black binding. Very nice.

The build quality is fantastic so see what you guys think about the tone of these different basses.

I think they both sound very good. They’ve both got their own slight uniqueness.
