Sire Review:
The Sire features a Vintage feel, with 70s pickup spacing, Marcus Miller Heritage Preamp - which is amazing! No cut or boost in volume when switching the toggle between active and passive. A fantastic bass guitar for playing slap on as it features the maple one-piece fingerboard, very articulate and paired with a swamp-ash body gives a lot of definition and growl. U-shaped period correct 70s style neck - hard to find these! I play both these basses through Mark Bass Amplification with lets the real tone of these instruments shine through. I use a Mark Bass Little Mark III and MicroMark 801 Cabinet. The sire can be order directly from Sire, bought from local music shops, bought through Thomann musical instrument company and other online retailers. There is a Sire Generation 2 range out as well with a refined specification and rolled fingerboard edges. - Sire 2nd generation Marcus Miller V7 Vintage Bass Guitar. The Marcus Miller Sire Bass is amazing value for money and one to watch for sure!

Fender Review:
The ultra modern/vintage blend for a Fender made on the last 20 years. All original bass with standard nut, all original 60s jazz bass string spacing, standard N3 noiseless pickups, electromagnetic coil (not EMG, Inc etc), standard radius, vintage design, from the deluxe series (2010-2016). A production bass which started with the design of Leo Fender, one of the early bass guitar and guitar inventors. This bass features the olympic white body colour, paired with a rosewood fingerboard with mother of pearl block inlays - a very 70s design nod. Also comes with a string retainer for the A-string and optional string though body. A great bass for virtuosic playing with it’s slim C-shaped neck and punchy mid-range tone form the warmer woods. Really cuts through when playing finger-style and works great in a live setting.

Two fantastic string instruments, very different prices. Hopefully you’ll hear the subtle differences in each bass and please let me know in the comments which bass you prefer!
