Peekaboo slot canyon is located in The Grand Staircase Escalante National Monument in Southern Utah. Generally considered a moderately challenging route with a steep scramble entrance and some very narrow sections. The canyon itself is not very long but there is a mile hike from the parking lot down to the canyon entrance. This is a popular trail for hiking, which means it can get very crowded but you can still enjoy some solitude during quieter times of day like first light. The best times to visit this trail are March through June according to google but I thought october was an amazing month to hike the area. Nearby slots and equally amazing hikes include, Spooky slot which should be included with Peek-a-boo and done as a short loop. Zebra and tunnel slots are not far away and are magnificent features as well. Full-trail videos of those hikes will be posted after this one.

The trailheads for all the aforementioned canyons are found off Hole in The Rock road and there is a wide variety of dispersed camping to be found along the many offshoot roads. I found a 4x4 offshoot road right near the trailhead to peekaboo and spooky slot canyons (they share the same parking lot) that requires high clearance and there was some amazing dispersed camping spots off that splinter road. The 4x4 road itself disappeared over the horizon and I cannot say how far it went, but it looked pretty far with presumably more boondocking locations.

Hole in the Rock road is a dirt road with terrible washboard so be prepared for a very bumpy ride. Other points of interest in the area are The Devil's Garden and 20 mile wash Dinosaur Tracks just to name a few. In reality one would need a month to fully experience all the hikes and adventures around Hole in The Rock road. I did Peekaboo, spooky, dinosaur tracks, the devil's garden, Zebra slot and Tunnel slot on a three day, two night camping trip from Salt Lake City.
