Great Horned Owl Rescue. Vehicle collision. 2023

Late last night, close to midnight, an urgent call came in. The driver was on the Merritt Parkway and could not avoid a collision with this Great Horned Owl (GHO) who was in the middle of the lane, and to swerve would have caused a collision with other vehicles. Luckily, the driver slammed on the breaks to lessen the impact, but the result was still an Owl lodged in the grill. Todd responded to this emergency and successfully removed her from her entrapment. She was suffering from an extreme head concussion, but after one night of medication and dark and quiet, she stood up and opened her beautiful eyes. After three days of intensive care, she was moved to an outdoor aviary to finish her recovery with less human contact. One week after the accident, she miraculously recovered and released back to her home territory.
A true miracle!
