“Bagong Pilipinas is a call for transformation: the transformation of our idea of being a Filipino, and the transformation of our economy, governance and society,” President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. declared as he outlined his vision for a ‘Bagong Pilipinas’ during the kick-off rally at the Quirino Grandstand in the City of Manila on January 28, 2024.

President Marcos Jr. began by recounting his recent engagements, which included attending the memorial of the Special Action Force (SAF) 44, the inauguration of the Lung Center of the Philippines’ Lung Transplant Program and a visit to the historic Barasoain Church.

The President's address, characterized by calls for unity, resilience and transformation, aimed to instill confidence and optimism in a nation facing multifaceted challenges.

He emphasized that these events showcased the bravery, determination and perseverance of the Filipino people.  Highlighting the achievements of Filipino Paralympic athletes at the Asian Para Games and the opening of a significant petrochemical plant in Batangas, the President used these accomplishments to counter the prevailing negativity and doubts about the nation's potential.

“Ang layunin ng Bagong Pilipinas ay maglatag ng mga mithiin na dapat nating makamtan para sa kinabukasan ng ating bayan,” he said.

The Chief Executive then elaborated on his broader vision for the country, emphasizing the need for a united response to global complexities.  He underscored the importance of drawing strength from the nation's valiant past and focusing on a united purpose for a better future. 

President Marcos Jr. highlighted the Philippine Development Plan 2023 to 2028, describing it as a comprehensive blueprint for progress that transcends political affiliations.

He also called for the eradication of laziness and corruption, advocating for efficiency, transparency and respect in public service.  The plan also focuses on the youth, education, support for farmers and fishermen, and addressing environmental challenges such as El Niño.

The President pledged his commitment to efficiency, transparency and respect, inviting every Filipino to join in the journey toward a hopeful and prosperous ‘Bagong Pilipinas’.

At the end of his address, President Marcos Jr. called for a collective effort and transformation, emphasizing the government's role in leading by example.  “Araw-araw tayong manalangin, magsumikap at kumilos upang maging maginhawa ang pamumuhay ng bawat isa sa Bagong Pilipinas,” he said, concluding his message.
