James Mang'erere is an advocate of the High Court of Kenya with more than 25 years in legal practice. He has been a Mediator and trainer for over 20 years and he is also a member of the Board of Directors at the International Mediation Institute.

In this interview he shares two enlightening stories from his experiences in Mediation. In the first one he highlights the importance of neutrality in Mediation to identify the interests of parties to overcome catastrophe. In the second story he explores how alternatives such as BATNA or WATNA can be used in progressing beyond impasse in preventing even potential war between nations.
