It is believed that Bach wrote Chaconne as a response to the loss of his first wife, Maria Barbara Bach. It is a deeply somber expression of his grief representative of his love, pain, and fear. Originally written for solo violin, this is an arrangement for 5 octave marimba. Yun interprets the piece adding a warm depth and richness to each chord and melodic line displaying the unique timbre of the instrument.
