Sunset view from Frying Pan Mountain Lookout Tower: More Trails of the Blue Ridge Parkway

At an elevation of 5,340 above sea level, Located along the Blue Ridge Parkway this 70-foot tower is among the tallest of its kind in Western North Carolina. Constructed in 1941 the tower offered a prime lookout for forest fires for decades, until technology made it obsolete. The tower was decommissioned in the 1990s. This historic structure now stands as an excellent scenic lookout. Join us, for a 1.5 mile out and back hike to Frying Pan Mountain Lookout Tower as we take in the 360 degree panoramic views and enjoy a stunning sunset.
