过度换气综合症是由于换气过度超过生理代谢需要而引起的一组症侯群。没有任何病征性的特征，而发病时呼吸加快，产生动脉血二氧化碳分压低，呼吸性碱中毒，并有交感神经兴奋，临床上表现为各种各样的症状。所有症状都可以用过度通气和呼吸碱中毒解释。过度换气症候群是急性焦虑引起的生理、心理反应，发作的时候患者会感到心跳加速、心悸、出汗，因为感觉不到呼吸而加快呼吸，导致二氧化碳不断被排出而浓度过低，引起次发性的呼吸性碱中毒等症状。过呼吸就是呼吸过度，引起呼吸性碱中毒，造成手脚麻木，严重时四肢可以抽搐。

Hyperventilation syndrome is a group of symptoms caused by excessive ventilation exceeding physiological metabolic needs.  There are no symptomatic features, but breathing is accelerated during the onset, resulting in low partial pressure of carbon dioxide in arterial blood, respiratory alkalosis, and sympathetic nerve excitement, which clinically manifests as a variety of symptoms.  All symptoms can be explained by hyperventilation and respiratory alkalosis.  Hyperventilation syndrome is a physiological and psychological reaction caused by acute anxiety. During the attack, the patient will feel a rapid heartbeat, palpitations, and sweating. The patient will breathe faster because he cannot feel his breathing, causing carbon dioxide to be continuously discharged and the concentration is too low, causing secondary attacks. Symptoms such as respiratory alkalosis.  Hyperbreathing is excessive breathing, which causes respiratory alkalosis, numbness of the hands and feet, and in severe cases, the limbs can twitch.
