The depressed artist is a common one. When it comes to being a musician or artist in general, we often face an uphill battle in our creative endeavors. With a world that's just barely coming to accept our field as a legitimate career path, art and depression still coexists in high percentages. Why is that? Why do musicians struggle so much with their creativity and mental health? Why do artists never seem to be happy? As one with bipolar disorder who's dealt with a lot of this, here are 5 reasons why I think we struggle.
