Dragon's Dogma 2 takes place in the lands of Vermund and Battahl, in a parallel universe from that of the original Dragon's Dogma.

Dragon's Dogma 2 is set in the same universe as the original, though set in a different land, with politics and geography unknown to Gransys. Many recognisable features of the original Dragon's Dogma make their return: Arisen, Pawns, a heart stealing Dragon, the Brine, and a ruler of dubious nature. Those familiar with the original game will also recognise many monsters, magick, armor, and items making their return. Notable additions include new vocations, monsters, and a new playable humanoid race known as the Beastren.
