Drunken Noodles is the literal translation of Pad Kee Mao because the theory is that these spicy Thai noodles should be eaten with an ice cold beer and that they are a great cure for hangover.

This Thai noodle dish is a very popular both in Thailand and in Thai restaurants outside of Thailand.
This recipe supposed to have thai basil leaves however, i can't find the thai basil leaves in our local groceries.


Recipe:

Ingredients

400 grams chicken or beef, shrimp, extra firm tofu or mixture of the proteins

For the Sauce
2 tbsp oyster sauce
1 tbsp fish sauce
1 tbsp soy sauce
1 tsp dark soy sauce
2 tbsp palm sugar or honey
pinch of white pepper

For the Stir-fry
2 tbsp cooking oil
4 cloves garlic, crushed then chopped
2 pcs Thai chili slice
1 large shallot, sliced
100 grams bokchoy
400 grams fresh rice noodle
1 red chili, sliced, optional
Handful basil leaves (approximately 2 cups)
