Big Mama's Safe House -San Antonio Texas

Texas Health and Human Services Commission allocated H.R. 133 and American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funds to the San Antonio Council on Alcohol and Drug Awareness (SACADA). SACADA Circles of San Antonio Community Coalition partnered with Big Mama’s Safe House (BMSH), a community-based nonprofit that seeks to improve and transform community safety by changing the mindset regarding gun violence. Through this partnership SACADA supported the creation of a dedicated room at BMSH for counseling services to combat trauma caused by witnessing violence, renovation of a community garden and marketing materials to build their capacity to serve the East Side and West Side of San Antonio.
