This is actually a second Playthrough, as the video for the first one failed to record.

The AGI version is the version available on GOG.com
Purchase from GOG
https://www.gog.com/game/kings_quest_...
or Purchase from Steam (in 2016 collection)
http://store.steampowered.com/app/10100/

Please note that versions acquired from GOG or Steam are not configured for the Tandy 3-voice chip. They can be forced to use the Tandy sound by editing the dosbox.conf file to add -t to the program name (typically sierra or kq1.com or sierra.com )

The AGI version can be played in Tandy or PC mode, the only difference is that the Tandy mode has a noise channel, which isn't really used in this game except with the dragon.

Unlike the later SCI and AGS (ADG Interactive) remake versions, you can get the shield first thus making the game somewhat easier. On this playthrough there aren't many encounters of random monsters.

An alternate solution to getting the chest, if you guess the gnome's name incorrectly will give you a key, and you climb the staircase instead. In the AGS version if you have the shield already, you won't have anything stolen. In the SCI version you can only get the shield last, thus you don't want to use the stair case.

I feel that the intent of this version of the game was to get the shield first as the chain of clues goes would involve going to the witch's house first, getting the note (clue for the gnome) and the cheese (item for getting to the shield), getting the bowl, giving it to the woodcutter, thus getting the fiddle, which are the the two items needed to get the shield.

Depending on certain actions, you may miss points. The action I likely missed here was "fill bucket" before diving.

Dosbox should be set to fixed 600 cycles for "fast" movement speed to be reasonable.
This version can also be played in SCUMMVM, however offers no additional benefits over DOSBOX aside from mouse support and the ability to "pause" while typing.
