ERICH WOLFGANG KORNGOLD: Passover Psalm Opus 30

One of Korngold's few religious works, the Passover Psalm was composed in exile, in Los Angeles, 1941 and commissioned by Rabbi Jacob Sonderling.
This fine performance featuring the Munich Radio Orchestra conducted by Marcello Viotti is from a live concert in 2003.

The words (translated from the German) are as follows and given the wartime situation, especially poignant:-

Let us sing praise to him,
to him, who did wonders
for our fathers and us, their children.

He broke open the prison,

From slavery to freedom,

Boruch ato Adonoy,
praise to you, O Lord.
You have delivered us.
Hear our pleading, deliver us once more,

Rescue, rescue Israel,
