Ubud was possibly my favourite place on Bali, because of the mixture of things to do and an incredible taste of real Balinese culture. Yes I loved the diving in Amed and the surfing down in Uluwatu, but here you really felt at the centre of it all!

I would recommend the Monkey Forest but be aware it is extremely touristic, and the Tirta Empul is an experience I think everyone should have if they visit Bali. You can get lost in the markets for hours then once you're slightly bored of human interaction you can take a beautiful walk through the rice fields just outside the centre of the city!
