Led Zeppelin - Gallows Pole (1970)

Описание к видео Led Zeppelin - Gallows Pole (1970)

I first heard this as a folk song called "Hangman" by The Kingston Trio, which was originally titled "The Maid Freed from the Gallows" and "The Prickilie Bush." However, the
Trio's version was fairly straight laced and lacked the drama and excitement that Zeppelin puts into their version. This track is on side two along with "Bron-Y-Aur Stomp" on LZ III, which I just uploaded a short time ago. The pace picks up much the way a hangman's reel does, and luckily an historical drama starring Alan Bates was available that is an excellent match for the song. A lot of editing was required though as the focus of the music is on Bates and not the other major character played by Faye Dunaway, plus some
scenes needed to be re-sequenced in order to pair well with the lyrics. Not enough footage was left to use from the Bates film, so I gave a little less equal time to the song as
known as "The Maid Freed from the Gallows" using footage from the film, Once Upon A Time In Deadwood. In this instance, the unlucky maid is actress Veronica Lopez.
