ABOUT THE FAMILY:

Rocco Rado, Sr. immigrated from Baragiano, Italy. He first came in 1896 to Chicago with an older son, then went back to get the rest of the family in 1903. He was a farmer in Italy.

Theresa Rado was his wife and her name was never engraved on the stone, nor her picture installed. But her descendant Lisa is now doing that for her. She has confirmed that she is buried there. Her maiden name was Tortorello. She was a housewife.

Also there are the inscriptions and pictures of their two of their sons, Dominick and Joseph. Dominick was a machinist at the Automatic Screw Company in Chicago. He died at 44 to 45. His obituary stated: "suddenly," so possibly an accident at work. We can find his death certificate to learn more.

Joseph worked as a fireman on the B & O Railroad, according to census records and WWI draft card. He was only 43 when he died and it was an accident at work. He died of multiple skull fractures as the result of a train accident. He was found seated in the engine, which had rolled nose first into the pit of the roundhouse. He was not married. https://radohistory.blogspot.com/2008...
(*note that the news article in the link has his age inverted)

Great-grandpa was another brother, Robert Rocco Rado who is buried in another part of Mt. Carmel, and the other two brothers Anthony and Frank are also buried in Mt. Carmel in another area.
Frank was the oldest son and lived the longest...to age 88. The rest died young.

Robert Rocco had ties to Al Capone:

THIS CHANNEL:
_________________________________________________________
The Angel face you see is the Haserot, named “The Angel of Death Victorious". The stoic angel is seated on the marble gravestone of canning entrepreneur Francis Haserot and his family. Holding an extinguished torch upside-down, it represents a symbol of life extinguished. Wings are outstretched and the gaze is straight ahead.
IN THE END, DEATH ALWAYS WINS. LEST THE FACES NOT BE FORGOTTEN...

This channel is focused on casually walking and viewing a handful of the thousands of forgotten names and faces at various cemeteries near and afar. Seeing their faces up close. And when able, telling the stories behind their names.

Most graves are unknown and lost to history.
Some are famous.
And some infamous....
....and some with tragic endings.
