Anisotropic effect in 1H NMR

Описание к видео Anisotropic effect in 1H NMR

Magnetic anisotropy means a "non-uniform magnetic field". Electrons in π-systems (aromatics, alkenes, alkynes, carbonyls etc.) under the influence of external magnetic field induce a magnetic field which is anisotropic in nature ie at some places it is parallel to the external magnetic field and at other places it is opposite to the external magnetic field. As a result, the nearby protons will experience 3 fields: the applied field, the shielding field of the valence electrons and the field due to the π-system. Depending on the position of the proton in this third field, it can be either shielded or deshielded.
