This incredible historic old plantation house was built in the mid 1800’s around 1854, just before the onset of the American civil war. The families main crops consisted of cotton, sweet potatoes and timber. The man who built the house had 3 wives, 2 of them passed away in the house and lots of children. The house miraculously was spared during the civil war from being burned. After the civil war the house would return to farming and sharecropping. Sometime in the late 1990’s to early 2000’s the final elderly owner passed away in the home and the house has sat slowly crumbling away ever since. Truly a one of a kind stunning old house, the front recessed covered porch is especially unique as well as the interesting floor plan and layout of the house. It’s raised nearly 5 feet off the ground on brick supports, since the area is prone to flooding. Definitely one of my favorites I’ve ever documented. Thank you for watching.
