Educating Girls in South Sudan | EWTN News In Depth

Описание к видео Educating Girls in South Sudan | EWTN News In Depth

In the region of Rumbek in South Sudan, a special school has been opened by the Loretto Sisters which aims to empower young women through education. Traditionally in South Sudan, girls are not seen worthy of an education as they are given in marriage in exchange for cows. The more cows a family has, the better off they are. Loretto Sister, Orla Tracey, is trying to change this trend in the rural area of Rumbek by encouraging girls to get secondary school education and go on to have careers. Colm Flynn brings us this report.

Hosted by Montse Alvarado, EWTN News In Depth welcomes guests in a discussion of current events in the Church, politics, and culture, all through the lens of the Catholic faith.
