The process of perinatal palliative care is one of antinomy, for grief and hope are inseparable as a woman whose baby in utero is diagnosed with a life-limiting condition, meaning, if the baby survives outside of the womb, he or she will likely only have moments or limited years to continue living. The Mother on whom the story is based stated, "I don’t think many people talk about what happens when you decide to let Him make all the decisions." Thus, it is in the very gift of paradox that we often see the hand of Providence shining brightest.
