The Last Omani Chief of Mogadishu | Revisiting old ties between Banadir & Oman

An interview with Abdulwahab Al-Busaydi, the great grandson of Wali Sulayman bin Ali Al-Busaydi, who was the last Omani Wali (Chief) of Mogadishu, during the reign of the Omani sultanate of Zanziba.

Wali Sulayman was one of the army commanders for the Sultanate of Zanzibar. The Sultan of Zanzibar at that time sent him to Mogadishu where he became the Wali of there.

He later became a curator of the Gerisa Museum (Gerisa is the palace that was built by the order of Sultan Barghash in Mogadishu on the side of Shingani area, which was later turned into a museum), he passed away in 1940.

كان والي سليمان أحد قادة الجيش في سلطنة زنجبار. أرسله سلطان زنجبار في ذلك الوقت إلى مقديشو حيث أصبح والي مقديشو.

أصبح فيما بعد أمينًا لمتحف جريسا (جريسا هو القصر الذي تم بناؤه بأمر من السلطان برغش في مقديشو على جانب منطقة شينغاني ، والتي تحولت فيما بعد إلى متحف) ، وتوفي عام 1940.
