Professor Abdullahi AnNaim started his career as a lecturer of law at the University of Khartoum. He left Sudan in the 90s and took on the position of Africa Director of Human Rights Watch in New York. He is now the Charles Howard Candler Professor of Law at Emory Law School. Prof An-Naim is an internationally renowned scholar looking at Islam and human rights from a cross-cultural perspective. His research interests include constitutionalism in Islamic and African countries, and Islam and politics. His strongest advocacy is for reform through internal cultural mechanisms of transformation.
