Edifier R2000DB and Klipsch R-15PM are two speaker systems with built in amplification (Edifier is fully active while Klipsch is passive powered system) with similar size yet completly different price tag. Klipsch is almost twice as expensive as Edifier so it should sound much better right? Well, yes and no. Yes Klipsch has more clarity in upper midrange and top end, but it is also quite bright there and the lack of any tone controls means it is quite tiring especially in the nearfield setups. Unfortunately for Klipsch, the bass reaponse of R-15PM is very lean, to the point where using it without subwoofer means You are missing out on a lot of bass content from Your music. Edifier on the other hand has fuller, more rounded bass and more lean back less detailed upper ranges. For nearfield use I would save money and go with Edifier for sure, especially that Klipsch has very high hiss level that will drive You mad if You use it less that 2 meters from Your head. Klipsch will work well in TV setups, where clear and forward midrange will help with speech and vocals a lot, just remember to use Klipsch with subwofer.
What do You think? Which one sounds better to You? Let me know in the comments below! Cheers!
