I review the ASTONISHING UHD of CINDERELLA which is the first Disney classic title release on physical media in over 20 years that isn't an insult to the original film or severely compromised. This and Snow White are the products of new restorations where efforts were made to replicate the original presentation and intent. This is the first Disney process in DECADES to do this for the classic features.
Unfortunately while the disc encoding and HDR are sensational, and the restoration was done with the bets intent it also seems as if there has been grain management. There is grain in the transfer but it is so minimal that many have already questioned it. And it is is VERY minimal. Also there is NO original audio whatsoever. Instead there is a 5.1 remix derived from the previous 7.1 remix. The original mono should have been restored and to not have the original audio restored in a film restoration essentially makes that restoration effort POINTLESS. The mono has to be sourced from Laserdisc analog mono for the best available option and synced to the UHD release.
There are also no new supplements and nothing on the restoration.
