Akira Sone continued Japan's judo gold rush at the Tokyo Olympics on Friday, beating Cuba's Idalys Ortiz for the women's over-78-kilogram title.
The victory brought Japan's gold medal tally for the Tokyo Games to 16, matching its all-time Olympic record. Japan set the mark when it first hosted the games in Tokyo in 1964 and equaled it at the 2004 Athens Games.
