Cancer Clinical Trials: Randomized Control Trials

The goal of some cancer clinical trials is to find out whether an experimental treatment is better or has fewer side effects than the standard of care. Trial participants are randomly assigned into experimental and control groups, where the experimental group gets study treatment and control group receives the standard of care. You and your doctor may not know what group you are in until the study is over as it is not a win or lose situation.
