FALLEN TO THE PITS
"We recorded this record at the same place Nirvana recorded "In Utero" album at Pachyderm Studios in Cannon Falls, MN. The recording studio was separate from the lodgings. Thankfully it had its own bathroom so while I was taking a gigantic fecal matter feces fest dump in the bathroom, I thought to myself its the same toilet that Kurt Cobain probably injected heroin on! It's kind of difficult not to think about with gold Nirvana records on the wall! Anyway, this was the first song we recorded followed immediately by the next 5 in a row all one after the other live in one take without a break between songs. Just 1,2,3 GO! Everything was recorded live with the exception of Bass and Vocals. Its as raw and honest as it possibly can be. Most bands use scratch tracks to get drums down and then follow along to the drums with new guitar tracks. Our "scratch tracks" are the final takes! We kept it rehearsal studio style all the way! Do or die! Underground sound, take it or leave it. We designed it to be fleeting and directly to the point much like Slayer's Reign In Blood album! Just blast in, commit blasphemies and outright sin and get the fuck outta dodge! Short and sweet like. Don't waste anyone's time with filler. Make every track count every time. That's what Ossuary Insane has always been about and will always be about. There's no sugar coating and fancy studio tricks used and abused here. This was still analog recording. Raw and graphic like an open wound. Fallen to the pits was originally titled "Sinful Demise." This was one of the first songs to have riffs that were more labor intensive as far as learning and memory was concerned. We started to have more twisted fills and just overall more riffs per song. Unlike the three track Fallen To The Pits demo before it which was very simple, heavy as all Hades, straight forward death metal riffing, this release infused jams in the style of all three of the extreme metal genres we enjoy most! Those being: Death/(Old) Black and Thrash metal, of course!"
