I am in Quetta, one of the tenth most populous cities in Pakistan, located in the center of Balochistan province, and I am going to report on some of their famous street foods for you.
Here are the things we ate on our Quetta street food tour in Pakistan:
Sugarcane Juice: In the Mari Abad neighborhood in Quetta, Pakistan, cool sugarcane juice is a popular street drink. This neighborhood is filled with attractions and Persian speakers also live here. The street foods of this area are very famous, and sugarcane juice is one of them. There is a special machine for making sugarcane juice, the canes go into the machine and from below, the juice gets emptied into a container that has a strainer on it while the skins of the sugarcane come out from the other side of the machine. Then the glasses are washed, and at the same time sugarcane juice and ice are mixed together and served in a glass. This drink is very delicious and especially favored in the summer season.
Two famous drinks with apricot in Khurmani Juice: Cool apricot juice with salt which had an interesting taste due to the sweetness of the apricot and the saltiness of the salt. The next extraordinary drink was made with raisin juice, apricot, soaked raisins, and powdered mixed nuts, and it was great.
Mantu and Aushak, famous Afghan dumplings with meat or vegetables in Quetta Balochistan, Pakistan: Mantu is a famous Afghan dumpling that gets filled with meat inside the dough, and Aushak is another model that has vegetables and is topped with a special bean sauce, chutney, raita, and curd, which made it unique and I really liked its taste.
Traditional Afghan Bread (Hazargi Bread): This bread, with a history of 35 years, is very famous and popular in a bakery in Balochistan, Quetta, Pakistan. In this bakery, dough is prepared using flour and then flattened by hand, and dotted lines are created on it with a roller. An old and traditional oven is used to bake these breads. This process requires effort and work, and the bakers have up to 35 years of experience in this profession. Afghan bread is similar to Iranian Barbari bread and it's very tasty. The bread is fresh and hot and has a good smell and taste.
Afghan Burger: This burger has egg and Afghan chips that all go inside the bread. A piece of bread is placed on a newspaper, and ingredients such as cabbage, cucumber, tomato, egg, and Afghan chips are placed inside it. Then masala and salt are spread. This famous stall is known as Hazargi Burger and they offer an Afghan burger with egg. Also, eggplant pickle is available here. Ketchup is added on the egg burger, and I must say it's very delicious.
Afghan Milk Tea: Milk tea is a famous drink in Quetta, Afghanistan. To prepare this drink, they heat milk, add sugar, and then add black tea to the milk and put it on the heat to boil. After it boils, the mixture is passed through a strainer and poured into a glass and served with Afghan bread, which is very tasty.
Mutton Karahi: This famous Pakistani dish is cooked with meat, tomatoes, and spices, and it's a masterpiece. We went to Gulshan Karahi House, a hub of delicious Mutton Karahi, busy with many pans on the heat cooking Mutton Karahi. Inside a big pan on direct heat, they mix crushed tomatoes and meat together, then they add very hot green chili and some curd to it. This unbelievable mixture is delicious. They also brought us apricot chutney with local bread. We dipped the bread in this dip and ate it with Mutton Karahi, which was truly a masterpiece.
I hope you like this video and continue enjoying Pakistani street foods
