02:10:11** best thunder (the one that will wake you from a sound sleep... I'm sorry, but Mother Nature doesn't care.)

This was a classic Central US nocturnal mesoscale convective system (MCS) that hit the greater OKC metro on the night of May 12, 2023. Convection was invigorated overhead due to an outflow boundary collision just to the south. A subtle outflow boundary can be seen on radar emanating from an MCS in TX and colliding with the well-defined outflow boundary moving southward over the metro.

This is a nice call-back to my complete Florida thunderstorm videos! While I've experienced many of these nocturnal MCSs since moving to Oklahoma, this one had more close lightning than usual and I had my good microphones recording through the whole thing with minimal disturbances. Please enjoy! But beware of the loud thunder at the end of the video if you plan to use this for sleep!
