Shortlines of the Steel City

Hello and Welcome to B&LE 902! In this video, we spend a Friday in Pittsburgh, the "Steel City," as we document 2 shortlines that run in the area, the Union and Allegheny Valley Railroads. We begin the day chasing an unusual lashup on AVR-3, before catching up with AVR-1 and chasing that through Pittsburgh. At the conclusion of the AVR-1 chase, we get some up close looks at the first of the new AVR SD60Ms which will soon enter service on the railroad. Then, we finish the day with some MP15 action on the Union Railroad as a quintet of power brings a steel slab train out of Edgar Thomson Steel Works in Braddock, PA.
