Through the Valley That Changed the World: A Day on the Oil Creek and Titusville Railroad

Описание к видео Through the Valley That Changed the World: A Day on the Oil Creek and Titusville Railroad

The Oil Creek and Titusville is a shortline railroad running from Titusville, Pennsylvania to Rynd Farm, just North of Oil City, Pennsylvania. This railroad features a classic roster of ALCO power, consisting of two S2s and one MLW M420W which are used on both passenger excursion trains and freight trains. In this video, we follow recently restored and painted S2 #85, as it hauls freight along the railroad on an unseasonably warm March day. We begin by watching 85 run lite to the South end of the Fieldmore Branchline to Oil Creek Plastics, picking up a car to take to Rynd Farm later. After returning to the "main," we watch the locomotive shuffle some cars around before departing for Rynd Farm. The route from Titusville to Rynd Farm travels through the Oil Creek State Park, the birthplace of modern oil production, dubbed "The Valley That Changed the World." From April through October, excursion trains operated by the OCTL travel on this trackage, educating riders on the history of the region. We will follow the train on this trackage, known for it's serenity and scenery as it parallels Oil Creek. Upon returning to Titusville in the afternoon, we will watch 85 break down it's train and make another run to Oil Creek Plastics to drop off inbound cars before tying down for the day.
