Описание к видео 前面展望JR中央線中野→高尾 <cabview Japanrail JR Chuou Line Nakano→Takao>

Cab view of JR East Chuo Line. From Nakano Station to Takao Station. This video is approximately 39 minutes long, so please watch it in sections.

The train I took was from Tachikawa Station and connected to the Ome Line, which branches off from Tachikawa Station, so I changed trains at Tachikawa Station.

The 22km track from Nakano Station to Tachikawa Station is laid in a straight line, which is unusual for Japanese railways. At the time when this railway was being built, there was a movement against the construction of the railway by residents living along the line, and the engineer, who was having trouble making adjustments, got frustrated and threw a ruler on the map to determine the location of the railway.

This story is apparently made up, but the railroad tracks run in a straight line between Nakano Station and Tachikawa Station, so much so that the legend remains.

At the 12 minute mark in the video, a double-decker train is connected to a passing train. This is a double-decker green car (1st class) scheduled to begin operation in 2024, and trial runs are currently underway (February 2024).

For commuter trains that depart from Tokyo Station, Takao Station is the western terminal. To the west from Takao Station, medium-distance trains depart from Takao Station or Tachikawa Station.
