Norwood, Ohio Rail Action in 1997 - NS + I&O

Описание к видео Norwood, Ohio Rail Action in 1997 - NS + I&O

Several Norfolk Southern and Indiana & Ohio trains are seen in this 1997 film. The video begins at the former Pennsylvania depot in Norwood, Ohio between CP Penn & CP East Norwood. A Newcastle District eastbound is the first to arrive followed by train 429 from Portsmouth, Ohio. 429 has just finished its run on the Cincinnati District nicknamed the "Peavine." This line is now out of service east of Peebles.

The next few scenes show action and idling power on the nearby I&O. CORP 3807 first leads IORY 6603 off home rails for the CSX #1 track near CP East Norwood. A plethora of I&O equipment is then viewed in front of their locomotive shop at McCullough Yard. The closing scene brings us back to the PRR station as another eastbound approaches CP East Norwood.

Shortly after the 1999 Conrail merger, Newcastle trains started taking a "right hand turn" at CP Vaughan in Evendale, Ohio. This allowed NS to take advantage of the shorter, faster double route on Conrail's Columbus Line (later renamed the NS Dayton District). A few years later, NS discontinued through traffic on the Peavine. I&O now operates and dispatches this part of the former NS Newcastle District.
