Today, let's take a look at a nice 12V 2A switch mode power supply (SMPS) module. I identify its components, test it and show some waveforms on my oscilloscope. Then I draw the schematic and explain in detail how does it work. I also analyse its safety, disassemble the power transformer and count the numbers of turns. I talk about possible failures. I also show how the output voltage could be modified and how to turn it into an adjustable voltage power supply.
