Beatrice Saubin - The First Foreigner Sentenced to Death For Drug Smuggling in Malaysia

Today we are looking at a woman who changed the Malaysian judicial system, Beatrice Saubin who was the first foreigner sentenced to death for drug smuggling in Malaysia and ended up spending 10 years in jail having had her death sentence converted to life imprisonment.

We will analyse the life of Saubin, her time in Malaysia and Southeast Asia, the alleged setting up of her drug smuggling operation, how she became a celebrity and her life in jail. We will also explore her life outside of prison and how she struggled to adjust to life outside of prison.
