Life as a Frontier Scout

Описание к видео Life as a Frontier Scout

Join me as I present the basics of the life of a common frontier scout and spy. I discuss a little about their life, their pay, and their equipment. The documentation for this video is largely based on Joseph Dodderidge's account and my interpretation of what that would have looked like.

The documentation of rations comes from an account of Samuel Brady's rations. They also talked about occasional chocolate but mine did not fare well in the Virginia summer temperatures.

This video is a little different than my last ones. I discuss my equipment that I carry. This equipment would work well for a scout or a hunter (give or take a few additions.) This is not meant to be exhaustive but rather a primer for those interested in getting in the hobby but being intimidated with the many options for basic gear.

Many thanks to the State of Virginia and the fine staff and friends at Wilderness Road State Park and the National Park Service and others for some of the photos. As always the fine music is courtesy of Deke Wiggins.
