April 6-7 Long's Peak attempt via Glacier Gorge TH and The Trough

The plan was to make an attempt on Long's after an overnight at Black Lake, but 12+ inches of unforeseen snow and 40mph gusts raised several concerns along the route. Following the 4.8 mile hike to camp, a fitful night of sleep, and an earnest push up the first section of the Trough early the next morning, I made the call to save this one for another day. Gotta respect the mountain and trust your gut!

Despite turning around, this mission of spending a night in some crazy winter conditions was a definite success. Was it worth it? Absolutely. Would I do it again. We'll see..
