复色指的是金鱼拥有2到3种颜色，蝶尾是金鱼的品种。蝶尾金鱼的尾巴是观赏金鱼的最大看点，尾巴打开之后像蝴蝶一样，尾巴的张力特别好，像是水中盛开的花朵，俯视来看就像是蝴蝶的翅膀，名称由此定为蝶尾。

许先生, 中国渔协金鱼分会秘书长兼常务理事, 长期致力于文创设计、数字媒体艺术、三维动画艺术领域的教学与研究，主持设计金鱼主题系列文创产品数十项；2017年创建「金鱼满堂网」文化网站，与中国金鱼协会结成战略合作伙伴，成为国内最专业的金鱼文化传播平台。许广彤投身国鱼传统文化研究，2016年4月出版《鱼把式--金鱼满堂》，是中国首部记录“鱼把式”的技艺传承、揭秘“古法养鱼”的神奇手法、原汁原味呈现传统金鱼的魅力的金鱼文化专著。
