2 Exercises for Low Back (Lumbar) Stenosis

Описание к видео 2 Exercises for Low Back (Lumbar) Stenosis

Today’s video covers rehab exercises for low back or lumbar stenosis. Spinal stenosis refers to a narrowing of either the central spinal canal (central stenosis) or intervertebral foramen (lateral stenosis). Central stenosis involves the spinal cord, so pain will typically be present in both legs when this has occurred. Lateral stenosis will usually only cause pain in one leg since it only involves one or more nerve roots on one side of the spine.

Stenosis typically causes nerve symptoms (pain, numbness, tingling) that radiate down one or both legs and are provoked by postures or activities that involve lumbar extension. In many cases, simply standing and walking with an upright spinal position can cause nerve pain to worsen. For this reason, movements that incorporate lumbar flexion are utilized to decompress the neural tissue and relieve symptoms.
