NOW, BACK TO BEER...
Central Ohio has dozens of breweries. Comment below if you've started your ale trail! If you'd like to sample Central Ohio's beers and earn a free t-shirt, gather stamps on your beer passport as you visit some of the 34 participating spots on the Columbus Ale Trail! Laura & Melissa visited:

*Nocterra
Located about 25 minutes north of downtown, in Powell, Nocterra offers a full lineup of ales & lagers. If you prefer to give back while throwing one back, check out their "Take A Hike" initiative. The outdoor space originally offered tons of yard games but many of those gave way for extra picnic tables because this place is BUSY! This brewery doesn't have a kitchen but does serve legendary pulled BBQ & fries from Ray Ray's Hog Pit FoodTruck.

*1487 Brewing Company
A Plain City gem. Listen as Laura & Melissa interview Matt Crema, Senior Director of Brewing Operations. He describes what's unique here: 100% German Malts and German Hops in their beers.
At the end of September, kickoff Octoberfest with special beer Olympics!
If you want to sample their most popular brew, choose the 1487 Blood Orange IPA. But if you want to drink like Head Brewer Matt- grab the New England IPA and the Hella for some "beer-flavored beer".
This brewery has a top-notch kitchen. The sausage balls which are served on a bed of sauerkraut are a big hit.

*Edison
If you want to sip a cold one while watching one of the most beautiful sunsets, this is your spot. Edison Brewing Company boasts European-inspired beers, so variety is on flex at this brewery.
The colorful outdoor tables give you a relaxation station while you enjoy downtown views and an "airshow". (Its located close to the airport.) Laura & Melissa toast the Edison flavors next to a stage often used for live music.

*Grove City Brewing
In the heart of downtown Grove City, Laura & Melissa ordered up both beer and wine at Grove City Brewing. Inside the glass-encased brewery workroom, Head Brewer Trevor Luther stood mixing some of the brewery's popular beers. Laura & Melissa then went next door into the Plum Run Winery for a tour. Listen as they interview owner and wine extraordinaire Dave Crowsby.
The joint drinkeries of Grove City Brewing and Plum Run Winery boast a killer kitchen. Just outside the door, a cozy patio gives you a chance to people-watch the street views.

*BrewDog - Franklinton and New Albany
These are 2 of many locations for this well-like, well-drank brew.
BrewDog is known for great beer for a good cause. Its quick to rally for a cause and the current sweetheart is Pelotonia, Columbus' ride to end cancer. For more details, visit:

*Holy Trinity
If you're thirsty downtown, you might wander into Holy Trinity Brewing Company. This was the spot least likely to have a crowd on the tour. It also doesn't have a kitchen. (Food truck park out front.) Each beer is named within the brewery's theme. This brewery does have happy hours, check their website for times:

Crooked Can
This courtyard is perfect for nice days and beer sipping. If you prefer to sit inside you can watch brewers work through the glass wall. Delicious variety of IPAs and lagers. Connected to this brewery you'll find a marketplace of different foods. This spot was built for all-day enjoyment.
