Trinidad Honey Glazed Ham

Hi there again everyone, as I said in the last video it's essentially countdown to Christmas time here in Trinidad and everyone is heading to the grocery before the weekend. One of the items on peoples list will be a ham, it is for this reason we decided to post up this simple honey glazed ham recipe.

We actually got this ham in PriceSmart and it is naturally smoked, so essentially the cooking process has already been started. You need to keep your ham well frozen until you are ready to bake your ham.

When you look at this piece of meat you may think that this is a daunting task but like I said before it's very simple but it does take some time.

Some of my friends always have questions about the thawing of the ham and the dangers involved in the meat thawing to fast or too slow so we demonstrated the thawing here as well.

This is a simple recipe, the main things are you want to ensure the texture of the glaze is conducive to brushing one while the ham is baking and since the ham is pretty much pre-cooked the baking times and glazing numbers are a guideline. It's your ham, do it the way you like it.

Ingredients:

1 smoked ham
1 cup brown sugar
1/4 cup honey
2 tbsp Dijon mustard
2 tbsp rice vinegar
pinch of cayenne
1 1/2 tsp black pepper
1/2 tsp Worcestershire sauce
1 can sliced pineapple (reserve drained juice)
cloves
