This video allows students to carry out an experiment on the specific heat capacity of water from home. This is a required practical for students to be able to understand and carry out for GCSE Physics.

A 227g beaker of water is heated by an immersion heater. A temperature reading is taken every minute for 10 minutes. The temperature and the energy required to heat the water is plotted on a graph, the gradient of which is used to then calculate the specific heat capacity of water.
